Engaging Faculty in Campus Transformation: The Diversity Fellows Program – Book Chapter
The Department of Homeland Security utilized Dr. Coop for its annual diversity and inclusion training seminar. The September 2018 training was specifically for C-Suite administrators and was nationally video-conferenced from Washington DC.
On 11-9-18 the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research International (AAERI) Board nominated and ratified their vote to select Dr. Ken Coopwood, Sr., as the next Vice President of the National Academy of Educational Research (NAER) for 2019 -2021. The NAER is a division of the AAERI.
Drs. William Lewis and Ken Coopwood were selected for a joint presentation addressing the intersection between the lived-experiences of chief diversity officers and cultural center directors. The presentation took place in November 2018 on the campus of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. The overall theme of the blocks of presentations was: Resisting the Politics of Survival and Thriving.
Dr. Coop engaged with the American Association for Access, Equity, and Diversity (AAAED) to provide instruction at its December 2017 Professional Development and Training Institute in Washington, DC. Participants were addressed overall with an introduction to diversity planning, and specifically with two topics of national interest: climate surveys and cultural competence.
